Joe Lowrey - Samaritan Walking Interim Captain

Most of you have probably heard of the Samaritan Cycling team, which raises both awareness and money for those experiencing homelessness. Perhaps you may have thought how cool it would be to be part of that team, but then realized that you couldn’t do that because . . . "I don’t have time for all the training required.” . . . "I can’t get a week off work for Ride the Rockies.” . . . "I don’t think I could physically do that even if I wanted to!"

I have some great news for you! Samaritan Cycling has branched out from just cycling to create both Samaritan Running and Samaritan Walking.

Not all of us can bicycle, not all of us can even run, but most all of us can WALK! After sitting on the sidelines and cheering on all the Ride the Rockies participants for 10 years, I am so excited to finally be a part of Team Samaritan as the captain of the newly created Samaritan Walking team. And I would love to have YOU join and become a part of this team!

What a great way to help raise awareness and money for those in great need! And what better way to kick off your New Year’s resolution to get more active and get in better shape?

All you have to do to join is pay a $50 registration fee. This will get you a free Samaritan Walking t-shirt and access to a meet up site where team members can schedule team walks. You will also receive free walking tips from Maureen Roben, who is in the Colorado Running Hall of Fame. Maureen will be sending out training tips to both Samaritan Running and Samaritan Walking. We ask that you try and fundraise $500. Of course, you may raise more if you’d like! We can help you with creating your personal fundraising webpage and provide you with marketing materials to hand out, if you wish.

Come join a great cause, meet some new, friendly people, and get yourself in better shape while you do it. Please join us in helping raise more awareness and money for those experiencing homelessness!

God Bless,

Joe Lowrey
Interim Samaritan Walking - Captain
