Welcome to Jim Thorson's Personal Page
Thanks for reading this!
I'm a once-upon-a-time road cyclist who has mostly mountain biked for the last couple decades. In the fall of 2024 I joined Samaritan Cycling on an invite by some friends in the group. I now tear up the pavement on my new-ish gravel bike - socializing, keeping this dad bod in fine form, and most importantly supporting others with greater needs.
Samaritan Cycling is a community of individuals that love to cycle. Our goal is providing those experiencing homelessness in Denver and the Front Range with food, clothing, shelter, and an opportunity to get back on their feet. Since 2011, Samaritan Cycling has raised over $2,000,000 to support the Samaritan House in Denver.
My personal fundraising goal for 2025 is $1,500.
The organized rides that I've done or are doing in 2025 in are:
- Colorado's Ride - 300 mi and 20k vertical feet over 5 days in the fabulous country around Durango and Pagosa Springs. 6 from our group joined 170 others in mid-August to do this. Mission Accomplished!
- The Denver Century - THIS SATURDAY 9/27 - I'll either ride the 100 mile century route or turn a century old trying. Seriously, I did my last training ride today and killed it. I'm feeling good.
Your kind donation will help break the cycle of homelessness by funding shelters, providing food, clothing, life skill classes, and aiding support groups.
Donate what you can. Any amount helps!
Thank you!
Jim
