Welcome to Wayne's Personal Page @ Samaritan House
Friends and Family! Thanks for taking a moment to read my newest endeavor! It's been a few years getting the back in shape again after an injury, but I have trained hard over the winter and I am ready to ride again! This time, I am riding for Samaritan House and to help homeless families here in Denver!
As a long-time Samaritan House volunteer, I've seen how Samaritan House has saved families and given people the opportunity to get back on their feet in a compassionate and productive way. Simply put, their approach works and saves lives!
Before the accident, I rode for the enjoyment of getting out after long rides on airplanes on business travel. It also gave me opportunities to ride with my son Matt, back then, a professional road cyclist. OK, so we started out together, but quickly I found enjoyment in the solitude of riding by myself and occasionally seeing Matt come whiz by telling me that it looked pretty flat up ahead the next 5 or 10 miles! I never quite saw it that way -- everything looked uphill to me!
I hope that this summer to ride at least 10-20 miles per ride per week. It's not much, but I am O-L-D! I try to stay within what my body will allow me to do without causing it pain and suffering. There will be some good rides in beautiful places that I am planning to do, along with my new buddies at Samaritan Cycling!
Thank you in advance for your financial support and your encouragement for me to ride! Donate what you can. Any amount helps! Importantly, if you see me wobbling along on the road, please give me extra space as you pass and don't forget to wave to me!
