Ride the Rockies 2020
Dear Friends and Family,
This will be my 7th year participating in the Ride the Rockies bicycle ride in Colorado and raising funds for Team Samaritan House. From my experience in volunteering, I understand the need for services like this. The government cannot take care of our homeless, the efforts need to be community based.
However, things have changed. The 2020 RTR has been cancelled due to COVID-19. However, the homelessness situation continues to be a “non-ending story” in our world. Hence, I will continue to train and will ride in several rides in Colorado, with the focus on helping the homeless through your donations.
All donations are aimed at helping individuals at the Samaritan House. The Samaritan house provides a 120-day residential program that provides career & intervention. In addition, it provides food & overnight shelter for those in need, and also counseling to individuals. In turn, the system provides building blocks to help the residents to move towards becoming independent in society. They take in single men and women. They also have places for families with children. It's truly an amazing shelter and organization!
In 2019 the Samaritan House provided:
• 1,405 individuals served including men, women, veterans, and children
• 80,120 nights of shelter provided
• 466,899 meals prepared
• 65% of residents going through a program became independent.
