Welcome to My Fundraising Page - Anne Cashman

Hi everyone,
Many of you know I had major hip surgery in December. I also have enjoyed riding my bike in years past, but life and work and other commitments have gotten in the way...... Well I thought I would possibly do Ride the Rockies thinking it would be a good way to get my hip back into shape, but I wasn't really committed until i went to the preview party and realized I could ride and do something meanigful at the same time
What happened when I went there, is a great example of the power of intention. I met the nicest bunch of people who were all in similar jerseys with "Team Samaritan House" on them. I asked them what they do and if they were accepting new members and then I found out about how much support they have been giving to homeless women and children for the past 8 years!
I have donated to the Samaritan House in the past, and I love how it supports those who are less able to protect themselves out on the streets. Samaritan House supports women and children in crisis and proivdes them shelter when they have no other place to go. We are fundraising to support a newer, larger facility in Aurora, where they can help give women a safe place to sleep at night when they are homeless - with no judgement whatsoever. Sadly, the numbers of women that are expereincing homelessness is on the rise. :(
The facility has a "no judgement section" and a transitional section of the new shelter where the homeless women who are working hard to stay sober and find jobs are allowed to have their own bed and keep their personal things there. We toured the facility and it was so emotionally moving, I am really happy to be fundraising for this great cause. Ride the Rockies is not a fundraising event, but I love how this team of people is giving visibility to a real concern and is going above and beyond to support a great cause.
100% of our donations are going directly to the women and the shelter. Last year the team fundraising bought cots in the room where every woman is welcome, regardless of her circumstances or her condition. It seems like a simple thing, but last year, they just had mats on the concrete floor.
Our team goal is to raise $125,000 and my personal goal is to raise $5,000. Will you help and donate any amount that feels right to you? I appreciate your support and you can have the confidence that 100% of what you give goes directly to help women in our community, right here at home.
