Dear Friends:
"Team Samaritan House" is once again raising funds for the homeless, I invite you to help those less fortunate. With your help, we are impacting people’s lives! I see it firsthand. I am a very grateful + a very lucky guy to receive your support!
Seven years ago, I started wondering if I would be able to complete Ride The Rockies, but at the end of year 1, in the midst of laughs and health concerns, I committed to 3 years… Now it is nearly 8 years later and I want to thank you for all your support and prayers. This year is “Year 8” for Team Samaritan House and it will be my second year with Andre Van Hall having my back. Andre rode last year blind and battling Stage 3 melanoma. Andre is now cancer-free, but still a questionable judge of character…
In 2011, six riders raised over $12,000 for the homeless. In 2017, 39 riders raised over $130,000 and we hit the $500,000 mark for donations. THANK YOU!
For 2018 we expanded the team to any and all rides. We now have over 80 teammates with 60+ signed up for Ride The Rockies. We are growing, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, we are helping more and more people every year. I invite you to learn more about that and I would be proud to go on a tour with you at any Catholic Charities shelter along the Front Range.
This year, Team Samaritan House is a “Podium Team” with the Denver Post Foundation for the 2018 Ride The Rockies. We are always willing to add YOU to our Team! The tour will be June 9-16 – A loop from Breckenridge - Edwards - Steamboat – Steamboat – Grand Lake – Winter Park – Breckenridge.
All raised funds will go to the homeless at The Samaritan House and additional homeless shelters operated by Catholic Charities. Shelters include: The NEW Samaritan House Women’s Shelter; and The Mission and Guadalupe Shelter which serves men, women, and children in Larimer and Weld Counties.
Last year, we learned that the largest growing segment of homeless is single women over the age of 60. This year, the new Samaritan House Women’s Shelter is open near Smith Road and Quebec. This facility is operational, and it is a blessing to many less fortunate.
It is hard to believe how generous my friends and family have been throughout the years – Anne and I are once again matching dollar for dollar up to $4,000 out of our pockets – so, if you feel like donating to a good cause, no amount is too little. THANKS FOR SUPPORTING OTHERS.
There but for the Grace of God, go I
If you want to pledge to a specific shelter, please indicate that on the donation form.
Our team appreciates your consideration of this worthwhile cause, but more importantly the homeless and the staff at the shelters THANK YOU! If you ever want to ride with us, or take a tour of the shelters please let me know!
